WHAW 980-AM radio is located in Weston,
West Virginia and began operation in 1947 at 250 watts of power. It quickly became one of the most reliable
and listened to radio stations in Central West Virginia. Since that time it has undergone several
upgrades, the most recent coming February 1, 2008 when it's power was increased to 25,000
watts - making it the most powerful
AM radio station in West Virginia.
At the present time WHAW is playing BLUEGRASS MUSIC
from 7am - 12 noon…..'50's, '60's, '70s
TRUE OLDIES ROCK from 12pm - 4pm and BLUEGRASS and FOLK from 4pm
-7pm.
INTERSPERSED WITH THE MUSIC ARE SEVERAL "OLD TIME
RADIO SHOWS" (Gunsmoke) and
featured programs (Swap Shop) that catch the listeners ear.
Calls and e-mails are already pouring into the station
from listeners in Wheeling - Washington Pa, Pakersburg-Marietta, Oh,
Charleston-Montgomery, WV and Canaan Valley-Oakland Md.
